Health Review and Assessment
We have a recall system to help you to schedule when you are due for routine checks such as smears, mammograms and immunisations. We also have a wide range of services to assist with lifestyle changes such as weight loss and smoking cession.
Heart Check
If you are over 45years (Maori/Pacific/Asian) or 55years (other) or early family history and have not had a previous free heart check, please call and make a “CVRA APPOINTMENT” (Cardiovascular Risk Assessment).
Cardiovascular disease (heart, stroke and blood vessel disease) is still the leading cause of death in New Zealand.
Smoking
Smoking affects nearly every organ and system in your body. It is the main cause of lung cancer and respiratory (lung) disease and is a major risk for heart disease, mouth, throat and other cancers.
If you would like information on how to quit, please call one of our nursing team – we are here to help.
Diabetes Annual Review (DAR)
It is important for all people with diabetes to get an annual check-up. If you haven’t had a diabetes check for a while, please call one of our nursing team for a blood test and an appointment.
Cervical Smears
We recommend cervical smears for all women from 25 years of age. All our nurses preforming cervical smears are qualified smear takers. Please call and speak with one of our nursing team, you may be eligible for a free smear.
Mammograms
It is recommended that all women aged 45 and over have screening mammograms every two years. In NZ you are able to have a free mammogram every two years for women in the 45 to 69years. Contact: BreastScreen Aotearoa (Freephone 08002702000) or speak with one of our nursing team
Maternity/Contraception/Sexual Health
We can provide maternity services up to 12 weeks of pregnancy. To have Ministry of Health care you do need to register with a Midwife to provide your care after 12 weeks gestation.
We have female and male doctors who can provide a full range of contraception and sexual health care.
Bowel Screening
The National Bowel Screening Programme is free for men and women aged 60 to 74 years. It aims to save lives by finding bowel cancer at an early stage when it can often be successfully treated. If you are eligible to take part, you will be sent:
- An invitation letter
- A consent form
- A free bowel screening test kit, with instructions on how to use it
It is important to indicate on the consent form that you want a copy of your result/letter to go back to your GP/medical practice so that your records can be update.
Advanced Care Plan (ACP)
Advance care planning is the process of thinking about, talking about and planning for future health care and end-of life care. It is about identifying what matters to you.
