An important update
It is with a mixture of sadness and happiness that my wife Liz, our senior practice nurse, and myself have made the difficult, but necessary, decision to ease back as we head towards retirement. We have consequently decided to sell Westend Medical practice and have found a local medical group that we feel will best take over the ‘We Care’ mantle, providing our patients with the ongoing good care that you all deserve at your medical ‘home’.
I have run my own medical practice at 227 Old Taupo Road for the past nearly 35 years, taking over the whole practice 21 years ago. During this time, we have endeavoured to create a practice ‘home’ for our patients and staff alike, hopefully living up to our practice motto, ‘We Care’, over all these years. Part of that care has always been you, our patients seeing the same clinical and admin staff who know you, so that we could provide the best care.
Dr Lisa Cameron is going to the USA on holiday this week to visit her family and will be away for nearly a month. Liz and I have booked a 3 month holiday to Europe from May, this includes a trip to the UK to catch up with our families there. However, we will be back at work in early August, albeit at
reduced hours.
Whilst we are away Westend Medical will continue business as usual at 227 Old Taupo Road. Here you will continue to be welcomed by all the usual staff - Pauline, Larissa and Kelly at reception, and be very capably cared for by our clinicians - Lisa, Cindy, Sarah and Nikki. You may see new clinician faces periodically if they are needed to cope with the seasonal winter ills.
We apologise for not being able to inform you sooner, but for commercial confidentiality reasons we were unable to do so until the sale agreement was signed. We thank you for continuing to remain loyal to the practice, as you have for so many years.
The new owners are Korowai Aroha, and Westend Medical will continue business as usual under their ownership. Korowai Aroha have been a local health provider for 34 years and we feel will best take over the "We Care" mantle. Korowai Aroha is a Kaupapa Māori Clinic - focusing on Māori Health, they are also a local medical centre, providing all general practice services. The team at Korowai welcome everyone regardless of ethnicity. You do not need to be Māori to attend.
In the meantime, all people with credits in their Westend account from automatic payments, will have those passed on to the new owner. Those credits will remain available on your account to you to pay for surgery services. But as soon as possible, you will need to go to your bank and change the automatic payments to the new owner’s bank account, the details of which will be sent to you.
We thank you for your trust in us over the years and look forward to seeing you again when we are back working in August, after our rejuvenating holiday!
